Daughters of the King
The Order of the Daughters of the King® is an order for women who are communicants of the Episcopal Church.
The Mission of The Order is the extension of Christ’s Kingdom through Prayer, Service and Evangelism.
In solidarity with one another, all Daughters everywhere make the same promises upon their admission to The Order:
• To obey the two Rules of The Order: the Rule of Prayer and the Rule of Service.
• To offer at all times loyal aid to our clergy and parish to spread Christ’s kingdom.
• To wear faithfully the cross of The Order.
• To work for the purposes of The Order as God may give us the opportunity.
Saint Anne’s chapter of the Daughters of the King called the “Jerusalem Chapter” meets the first Sunday of every month following the 10:00 am Sunday service—we start at 11:30 am in the Harold Boswell Library. In addition to praying individually over the names of parishioners and friends during the month, we also at our meetings pray as a group as we light candles and read each name out loud.
It is an exciting time to be a part of the Order of the Daughters of the King. The National Office has initiated a 2018-2024 Strategic Plan which incorporates six goals for the Order: Inspire Spiritual Growth and Development; Strengthen Our Call to Service and Evangelism; Nurture and Grow Our Members; Raise Up and Mentor New Leaders; Foster Community and Build Connections; and Instill a Spirituality of Giving. Our chapter has started to integrate these goals by recently participating in the world-wide evangelism program “Thy Kingdom Come” created by Justin Welby, Arch Bishop of Canterbury, where we each prayed for five people to come to know Christ.
If you are interested in becoming a Daughter of the King please do come to our meetings to get a feel for what we are about. If you feel called to become a Daughter, there is a three-month discernment period where you will participate in working through the National Study Guide.
